Kuwaiti Minister of Electricity and Water Bader Al-Shuraiaan said Saturday the newly-introduced pre-paid system of power and water gauges achieved equilibrium between the interests of his ministry and consumers alike.
Speaking to reporters after his meeting with the ministry's consumer affairs sector, Al-Shuraiaan said: "The ministry, out of its keenness for modernizing the consumer service, accelerates the implementation of the project to replace the old mechanical gages with the new ones." "The pre-paid gages will be first introduced to the investment and commercial categories of consumers first," he disclosed. The ministry has finalized the procedures relating to the tender on the final state of providing and operating the new gage system to the private housing units. The tender will be announced in the coming few weeks. The project falls in the framework of the government's pursuit of the latest technological achievements to suit the convenience of citizens and expatriates. The new system helps rationalize the power and water consumption, facilitate the fee collection and avoid the human errors.
