Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) will hold a ceremony on Monday to honor volunteers who backed its activities in the last holy month of Ramadan.
Speaking to KUNA on Sunday, Director of KRCS's Volunteers' Division and Deputy Director of Disaster Management and Emergency Division Musa'ed Al-Anzi said the volunteers responded to the call of the society to help organize the night prayers at the last ten nights of Ramadan. "The society's volunteers made as usual praiseworthy efforts to serve the worshippers notably at the Grand Mosque," he said. "They used to attend worshipers specially the elderly and disabled ones at the gates of the mosque and help them reach the sites of prayers; so they deserve honoring" Al-Anzi pointed out. "Some 130 male and female volunteers mainly young who were equipped with first-aid bags and wheelchairs will be honored tomorrow," he noted. Al-Anzi highlighted the importance of voluntary action in the framework of public interest societies which can show the talents of the youths and enhance their expertise and their sense of belongingness. "The society's volunteers share the zest for serving the homeland and enhancing the social development. "They take part in the cultural activities at schools, institutes, colleges and tourist centers. They also take part in the exhibitions and festive activities in holidays and attend the sports events to offer first-aid," Al-Anzi added, noting that the volunteers constitute the backbone of KRCS.
