A recent study conducted by the Legislative Documentation Department has revealed that marriages with non-Arab (Asian) spouses has risen in recent years. It now occupies the third place among the most number of marriages contracted between Kuwaitis of both sexes. During the past year, the number of Kuwaiti men who married Asian women reached 199 in number, while the number of Kuwaiti women who married Asian men stood at 52.

The statistics indicate that marriages within the Kuwaiti community take precedence over mixed marriages (with other nationalities) at a total of 9,238 marriages. This is followed by marriages with Saudi spouses, as the number of Kuwaiti men who married Saudi women have reached 297. Also, 172 Kuwaiti women married Saudi men during the same period. In addition to this, the study also noted that marriages between Kuwaiti men and Iraqi women came in at the fourth place with 147 marriages, reported Al-Watan.

Furthermore, statistics also indicate that the 53 Kuwaiti women tied the knot with bedoon men placing them in the fifth position. At least 100 Kuwaiti men were married to Syrian women, whereas another 96 men married bedoon women. During the same period, statistics indicate that Kuwaiti men tied the knot with 37 Jordanian women, 35 Lebanese women, 24 American women, 18 European women, 10 African women, eight Bahraini women, six Yemeni women, five Qatari women, three Palestinian women, three Emirati women, a
nd two Sudanese women.

On the other hand, statistics also show that at least 42 Kuwaiti women married Egyptian men during the same time period, while it the statistics for other nationalities are as follows: 27 marriages with Syrian men, 26 with Qatari men, 18 with European men, 16 with American men, 14 with UAE men, 10 with Bahraini men, seven with Lebanese men, seven with Palestinian men, six with Jordanian men, six with Yemeni men, and three with African men.
