Kuwaiti Minister of Education and Higher Education Moudhi Al-Humoud on Sunday concluded her seven-day visit to France where she attended the 35th UNESCO congress.
In pre-departure remarks to KUNA, the minister said Kuwait was keen on taking part in all UNESCO conferences in order to demonstrate its cultural role on the international arena. "Participation in world conferences is an opportunity for the State of Kuwait to share experiments with others in the field of education, science and culture," she said. She hailed meetings held on the sidelines of the UNESCO congress as very fruitful, saying the conferees had exchanged views and experience in the educational domain. She announced that Irina Bokova of Bulgaria would be declared as the first woman to be the director-general of the UNESCO in the international organization's history during the coming general meeting of the UNESCO due to be held on October 15. Addressing the UNESCO congress, the Kuwaiti minister had focused on Kuwait's great development efforts in the field of education and higher education, together with Islamic heritage in Jerusalem. She told KUNA that there would be mutual support for Arab nominations for UNESCO committees in the coming period.
