Hawalli Governorate Municipality has begun a campaign for renovating and beautifying buildings in the province, the deputy director general of Kuwaiti Municipality for the affairs of Hawalli and Mubarak Al-Kabeer governorates said on Monday.
Usama Al-Duaij referred at a news conference to a cabinet resolution issued in 2009, stipulating that landlords must repair and beautify facades of their buildings in line with specifications set by the municipality, along with the set timetables. The resolution is also applicable on state properties. Municipal staff will survey all plots and units, upon which the resolution is applicable, throughout the province, Al-Duaij said. The campaign will begin with commercial stores, mainly those located on main roads, he said, indicating that the work would include full or partial renovation as well as beautifying. Landlords must report to the relevant departments in the municipality and those who fail to cooperate will be subject to legal action. The second phase of the beautification campaign will be carried out in Al-Salmiyah, the third in Al-Jabriah, and the rest of the phases later in the other governorates and districts.
