Minister of Health Hilal Al-Sayer said here yesterday that Kuwait will witness a leap in the health services provided in the near future.
The Health Ministry began implementation of long and short term plans to improve health services through technical and administrative developments and resolving standing issues, the minister said. The ministry is in the process of boosting state hospitals service capacities as urged by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, he said. The Health Ministry relayed a comprehensive five-year-plan to parliament which is aimed to indicate specific means to promote the health sector in Kuwait. The plan stipulates establishing three hospitals for expatriates in Jahra, Farwaniya, and Ahmadi and providing them with full services, the minister said. Such hospitals will help alleviate the pressure on hospitals and health centers which will contribute to providing citizens with better service. The hospitals, clinics, and other medical facilities will be electronically connected in order to organize distribution of medication through proper channels, preventing any sort of foul play, Al-Sayer pointed out. Moreover, six newly established labs to confront the spread of A(H1N1) virus will be utilized to run the required tests for expatriates in the future, which will also alleviate pressure on the lone laboratory in Al-Shaab area currently in service for this purpose. Al-Sayer also affirmed the ministry will employ the best medical staff and will benefit from foreign experts which help in the training of Kuwaiti doctors, specifically in the area of complicated surgeries. Al-Sayer made a tour to Germany and the United Kingdom for updates on the latest health services, to arrange exchange of expertise, and to sign memorandums of understanding to exchange medical delegations and assess the quality of services provided in Kuwait hospitals.
