Kuwaiti doctor awarded 1st prize for excellence in medical education in Canada |

Kuwaiti doctor Dhirar Sultan Al-Shehab has acquired the first place prize for excellence in medical education at the level of University of Ottawa
among dozens of consultants, doctors and interns who competed to win the annual award in all disciplines. Deputy Director of the University of Ottawa and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine honored Dr. Al-Shehab commending in a speech on this occasion the outstanding performance of Dr. Al-Shehab and his high professional standards he has made during his seven-year training at the University. Dr. Al-Shehab has finished his training to obtain Canadian Board in General Surgery and the Canadian Board in Thoracic surgery. Speaking to KUNA, Dr. Al-Shehab expressed his great delight and happiness of winning the award, emphasizing that it is part of giving back to his country Kuwait. He said that he dedicates the prize to His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, in appreciation and recognition of his support for the Kuwaiti trainees and students studying abroad, in addition to his persistent encouragement to better represent their country. He said he will spare no effort to raise his country's name high in the global arenas and that he looks forward to serving his country and citizens after he returns home in the field of thoracic surgery. Dr. Al-Shehab said that after receiving the prize, he has been nominated for the (PAIRO) award for excellence in medical education, which is held annually at the level of medical schools in Canada that are being contested by hundreds of doctors and trainees. It is noteworthy that this is not the first award to be received by Dr. Al-Shehab, who was sent by the Ministry of Health in 2002. In 2008, he was ranked the first in one of the researches he submitted to the Canadian and world chest surgeons conference in the city of Halifax, Canada.
