Publications law ensures justice, equality -- Former info minister |

The Kuwaiti publications law issued in 2006 ensured justice and equality in terms of authorizing issue of new papers, said here Kuwait's former information minister Dr. Anas Al-Rushaid.
Al-Rushaid's statement came on the sidelines of a seminar entitled "National Unity" held as part of the conference of the National Union of Kuwait Students (NUKS) - UK Chapter, Saturday evening. Al-Rushaid denied that media criticism harmed national unity and said that every person had the right to criticize people for slack "within the law". He stressed the importance of preserving national unity, noting that all Kuwaitis united in fighting the occupiers during the Iraqi assault of 1990, and the same spirit is alive today. On his part, former member of parliament Waleed Al-Jeri emphasized the significance of the rule of law, highlighting that His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah called media avoid inciting sectarianism and tribalism. Meanwhile, Deputy Director of the Public Authority for Youth and Sports (PAYS) Jasim Yaqoub said that Kuwaiti people gave much attention and importance to morals, interaction, and loyalty in the past, and we have to carry on that message today. He urged youth to take the previous generation as an example, and added unity and avoiding divide improves performance in all fields, sports included.
