His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser AlÙ€Mohammed AlÙ€Sabah asserted that His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah AlÙ€Ahmad AlÙ€Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf AlÙ€Ahmad AlÙ€Sabah
are keen on providing security establishments with all the necessary equipment to be able to fully shoulder their responsibilities. He commended the accomplishments achieved by the Ministry of Interior after seeing the new, advanced patrol cars. He demanded more achievements in the ministry that is led by Sheikh Jaber AlÙ€Khaled, since this in turn will provide security for the people living in Kuwait. He also highlighted "the importance of applying the law, raising the awareness of drivers, and assisting them on the roads as required." The Minister of Interior in turn expressed his appreciation for the great assistance from the prime minister. In another development, the Minister of Communication and Minister of State for National Assembly Affairs Dr. Mohammed AlÙ€Busairi said Tuesday the government had sent its policy program to the National Assembly. "As the government is keen on honoring its commitments, it has referred its plan of action to the National Assembly," he told Kuwait News Agency (KUNA.) "It, (the government) is confident that the National Assembly would comply and cooperate with it in pushing forward efforts of embodying the goals of the program and to complete its projects in line with the fiveÙ€year plan," he said. "The government''s program, with its executive and financial details, mechanisms, tools, procedures, followÙ€up and assessment systems can ensure earnest and proper executive stages, with the private sector to be given the larger part in the execution of national projects," he added. In another development, a budget increase in the Debtors'' Fund from half a billion Kuwaiti dinars to KD 750 million is the most outstanding amendment contained in a memo sent to the Fatwa and Legislation Department by the Ministry of Justice. The fund has been set up to address the plight of struggling families. The memo, which was obtained by AlÙ€Watan, gives applicants a six month grace period to file their applications from the day when the law comes into force. The amendments also include granting loans to the fund''s beneficiaries during the period of settling old loans on certain conditions. Meanwhile, lawmakers have renewed calls on the government to purchase loans incurred by citizens. They suggested that the bill is voted upon by selecting names before the Parliament starts its agenda for the new legislative term next week. They described the issue of loans as one of the contentious issues that impact heavily on the relationship between the executive and legislative authorities. MP Saadoun AlÙ€Otaibi has managed to secure the support of 10 MPs to sign a request to this effect. This number of MPs required is sufficient enough to submit the request to the Parliament according to the bylaws. The lawmaker demanded that "Nov. 17 be slated for deliberating over the Finance Committee''s report regarding proposals that call for the rescheduling of consumer loans incurred by citizens so that the committee can submit its report on November 10."
