A team of the Kuwait Voluntary Action Center, led by Sheikha Amthal AlÙ€Ahmad AlÙ€Sabah, has rescued a sea turtle within a record period of time.
Speaking to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), the Head of the team Hussein AlÙ€Qallaf, said the group had done its utmost to save the green sea turtle that was stranded in the generator cooling tanks at the AlÙ€Shuaiba refinery. "The team managed to rehabilitate the turtle back to its natural habitat taking into consideration the importance of protecting it from extinction," he said. "Sea turtles constitute a significant part of the ecological system, and are sensitive to environmental changes. They are used as an indication of environmental health and stability," he added. AlÙ€Qallaf hailed the efforts as a fresh achievement for the Kuwaiti team, and commended the team that always rescues sea species from looming perils and dangers.Ù€ Alwatan Daily
