A Kuwaiti educational official said here Thursday that clinics had been established at all primary schools and that kindergartens would follow suit ahead of December 6th.
Speaking to KUNA, Assistant Undersecretary of the Ministry of Education for Public Education Mona al-Lughani said 120 primary schools had been equipped with clinics thanks to cooperation with the Ministry of Health. Preparatory and secondary schools will also be involved in the clinic-equipping plan, she said, adding that some secondary schools had been already provided with clinics. But, she said the ministry might resort to providing schools with medical equipment under the tendering system. For her part, Al-Surrah Preparatory School for Girls Principal Seham al-Regheb said proper precautions were being taken at the school to prevent swine flu outbreak. Such precautions include emergency teams working since the beginning of the school year and training courses and workshops for teachers and workers, she said. Al-Jabria Secondary School Principal Roqia al-Hajri said an emergency team of 10 teachers and office workers had been formed at the school. Girls are checked for swine flu symptoms as a precautionary measure almost on a daily basis, she said. For his part, Al-Ma'moun Primary School for Boys Habib al-Yateem lauded all facilities provided by the ministries of education and health for providing schools with clinics as an anti-swine flu measure. Clinics have been provided with nursing staff and necessary medicine, he said, adding that there was a direct phone line with the nearby health center for fear of potential swine flu cases. - Kuna
