Kuwait keen to provide decent living conditions for children -- activist |

A Kuwaiti human rights' activist on Sunday underlined keenness of the State of Kuwait to provide decent living conditions for children and secure their future.
"Despite international conventions issued in this regard, yet children are still subjected to many unfair practices," chair of the woman and child committee at the human rights' constituents society Heyam Al-Jassem said in a press release. Al-Jassem's remarks came on the occasion the Universal Children's Day, which was celebrated on November 20. In many parts of the world, children are still living below the poverty line, with their parents forcing them to work due to the household's meager financial situation, which goes against the simplest rights given for children, she pointed out. Al-Jassem added that Article 18 of children rights in Islam, issued by the Organization of the Islamic Conference, stipulated that a child must not practice any labor activity that would endanger his-her safety, hinder their education or take tool on their physical or spiritual growth. - Kuna
