MANILA, Nov 30 (KUNA) -- The Kuwait Red Crescent Society (KRCS) said here Monday it had donated USD 250 to the Philippine
National Red Cross (PNRC) for buying medicine for children and old people due to outbreak of diseases at the flood-hit areas in the Philippines. The donation was decided following a meeting between KRCS and PNRC chairmen Barjas Al-Barjas and Richard Gordon in the presence of Kuwaiti Ambassador in Manila Bader al-Houti, Al-Barjas told KUNA. The aid aims to alleviate the adverse impacts of the flash flood that has recently hit the Philippines, he said. On Kuwaiti aid to flood-hit Philippine areas, he said his country, represented by its crescent society, had dispatched humanitarian aid worth USD three million to the Philippines. Kuwait's relief aid included tents, blankets, household containers and bed lines, mainly aiming to ease out the fallout of the natural disaster that has left thousands of people killed or homeless, he added. For his part, the PNRC chairman, also speaking to KUNA, hailed Kuwait's contributions to the alleviation of the ramifications of his country's natural disaster. He said the KRCS was the first Arab team to visit the Philippines, thanking Kuwait for keenness on providing humanitarian aid to all world people affected by natural disasters.
