The coldest 40 days, locally-known in Kuwait as ‘Merbaania,’ started on Sunday, Astronomer Adel Al-Saadoon said.
“The heavy seasonal rains which hit Kuwait last week due to the Siberian cold front prepared the soil for the wildlife to prosper in spring,” Al-Saadoon told KUNA here.
“During the Merbaania, the temperature drops sharply to an average minimum of eight Celsius degrees with the possibility of falling to below zero,” he noted. The frosty weather, resulting from northern wind, will last through Jan 17, Al-Saadoon pointed out. The current good weather is likely to come to an end in the coming two days, he added. - Arab Times
