Kuwait presents its contribution to the ICRC at USD 3 mln |

The Permanent Representative of the State of Kuwait to the UN in Geneva and international organizations Dharar Abdul-Razzak Razzooqi presented Kuwait's contribution of USD 3 million to the President of the International Committee of the Red Cross Jacob Kellenberger.
Ambassador Razzooqi told KUNA, following the meeting, that Kuwait's voluntary contribution to the ICRC is with the objective of allowing the humanitarian global organization to implement its mandate, activities, and programs in the field, especially in the Arab and Muslim countries. The Kuwaiti head of mission in Geneva told KUNA that the contribution of Kuwait is as a result of its conviction to strengthen the role of the ICRC in the field of humane efforts and for its noble humanitarian services. Ambassador Razzooqi said that he and Kellenberger discussed issues of mutual concern and praised the important role of the ICRC in dealing with crises in the Middle East and in some Muslim states. On his part Kellenberger told KUNA that the state of Kuwait is a very generous state and expressed his deep appreciation to the government and peoples of Kuwait who continued their support for the ICRC humanitarian role. He added that Kuwait has become one of the main supporters of the work of the ICRC. Kellenberger also praised the ties between the ICRC and the Kuwaiti mission in Geneva. The meeting was attended by member of the Kuwaiti mission Councilor Sadiq Marafi and ICRC Head of Unit, External Resources Division, Pierre Gerber. - Kuna
