WOAH praises performance of Agriculture laboratories |

The Public Authority for Agricultural Affairs and Fish Resources (PAAAFR) on Wednesday said a team of World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH)
experts on their visit praised Kuwait's veterinary laboratories performance evaluation. Director of Public Relations in PAAFR Shakir Awad said in a press statement that the visit comes within the framework of the expertise of WOAH for modernization global system development for veterinary services in Kuwait. He added, the team's mission, which started years ago at the request of the Commission for evaluating the performance of veterinary laboratories. Awad reported the target for preparation of plans and programs would improve the level of performance as a prelude to the mind of laboratories approved for GCC. GCC countries within the meeting of the Livestock Committee had endorsed establishment of an early warning center in Kuwait, he added. PAAAFR formed working group to facilitate the task from the WOAH pending the completion of their duties in accordance with specified time, he affirmed. Meanwhile, PAAAFR imposed a temporary ban on the import of all kinds of animals from Sudan. A press release said that the import ban was due to an outbreak of Rift Valley fever (RVF) in some areas, as reported by WOAH. PAAAFR imposed a ban on the import of all bird species in France since spread of bird flu in one of the regions. - Kuna
